Urban Sketching Workshop
** Free Workshop** Saturday 31st May 2025 2pm - 4pm
Available spaces
For this workshop we will meet at Crescent Arts then spend the afternoon exploring the sights of Scarborough's South Bay and learn to look at things. Buildings, flowers, people. Our goal as artists is to be aware of the world around us more acutely. To pull it apart. To analyse how it hangs together. The rhythm of life. Its shape, colour, texture, tone. Then there's your application. The way you make marks is a world in itself and being in a group means you're likely to pick up tips and techniques that will help your drawings and paintings develop over time. Tuition and feedback is on offer from Head of NYAS Christopher Shaw. It's perhaps some sort of paradox that all this tuning in coincides with a kind of dropping out. Intense focus helps you forget the world of worry. Your concentration on the task at hand does strange things with time. It flies and yet you feel elated and a good sort of tired when done. It's a sort of work out for the brain that connects you with your surroundings in ways you're not used to. Saturday 31st May 2pm - 4pm with Christopher Shaw This workshop is based at: Crescent Arts Woodend Creative Centre Scarborough YO11 2PW Drawing materials will be provided for this workshop but feel free to bring along your own drawing pad, pens, pencils and paint. Workshop is subject to change. In the event of adverse weather this workshop will take place indoors.
