NYAS regular, Erland, started coming to NYAS painting classes in Summer 2024. He started on the Wednesday painting classes first and did lots of transposition work of still life-type subject matter. This one, 'Still Life with Pears', is a transposition piece. Transposition means that Erland reproduced the image (in oil paint on canvas paper) from a colour printout. In January 2025, Erland swapped to the portrait and still life classes which means he now paints from life. This sumptious transposition is beautifully handled and shows Erland's growing confidence with paint.
